Things to do in Cannes - Part 2

Welcome to the second part in our guide to Cannes tourism and the surrounding regions. In this blog we take a look at some of our favourite things to do in Cannes France, covering three more beautiful places to visit while you’re touring around on one of our rental motorbikes. With the sun blazing down and the open roads under you we recommend you consider a trip to the Lerin Islands, the inspiring Picasso museum and last, but by no means the least, the flower markets and old town area of Nice.

Lerins Islands

The Lerins Islands are made up of Sainte Marguerite, more accurately known as the beautiful Ile Sainte Marguerite and the Ile Saint Honorat. The Ile Sainte Marguerite is a nature reserve. It’s very scenic and offers beautiful walks. Legend has it, that the Man with the Iron Mask was kept in captivity in a fortress on this island for 11 years. According to writer Alexandre Dumas, this prisoner was King Louis XIV's identical twin. The Ile Saint Honorat has a monastery, which still today produces wine, honey, lavender oil and a liqueur called Lerina.

Both islands can be reached by ferry, which leaves from the Old Port in Cannes. Big advantage for motorcyclists is the free parking at the port.

Picasso Museum

No trip around the region would be complete without visiting the Picasso Museum Antibes. Pablo Picasso spent time in Antibes around 1946. During that time, he lived in the building which today is known as the Picasso Museum. Today, the museum offers over 250 works of Picasso including the paintings “The Goat” and the “La Joie de Vivre”. There are lots a great things to do in Antibes so after your museum visit, why not take a stroll through the old town later and have a look at the yachts in the harbor. If you’re wondering what to do in Antibes after all this then why not relax and take some time out? There are plenty of places to have a coffee, relax and enjoy life.

Nice - Flower Market & Old Town

There are an incredible amount of fascinating things to do in Nice and it’s only half an hour ride away from Cannes. We recommend you visit the Nice Flower Market at Cours Saleya. The market takes place every day of the week – rain or shine. The intense colors and fragrances of the flowers are quite something. While you are in that part of Nice, why not take a stroll through Nice old town. If want to treat yourself to some typical food from Nice, try La Petite Maison. The service might not be up to scratch, but the food and atmosphere are great.

These recommendations rank amongst some of our favourite places to visit around the Cannes and Nice regions. If you’d like to know more about them, our luxury motorbike rental, storage and adventure tours then please do not hesitate to contact us.
