Choosing Our Favorite Restaurant - Cannes

Our customers often ask for recommendations on the best restaurant in Cannes. Having lived in Cannes for 5 years, we have good local knowledge of what restaurants to avoid and where to go. We want to share our favorite restaurants with you to avoid ending up in a tourist trap and not enjoying your time in Cannes.

To make choosing your restaurant as easy as possible, we added a TripAdvisor screenshot of the restaurant. Just click on the image and it will take you to the restaurant's review page. Enjoy your meal and “bon appetit”.

Best Burger – Couby’s Cafe

The restaurants Cannes offers are fantastic, Couby’s opened recently and never fails to impress. The large burgers are freshly made and come with copious amounts of French fries and coleslaw. If you don’t like hamburgers, the restaurant also offers a variety of salads. The restaurant is on the ground floor. On the first floor there is a bar with live music. Best to check their website for the next gig.

Best Steak - La Rotisserie

This place serves the best beef you’ll find in a Cannes restaurant. What makes the La Rotisserie special is that they let you choose your meat. The waitress comes to your table with a “meat trolley” displaying their cuts of beef. You choose the size of meat according to how hungry you are. We recommend going to this restaurant in the evening and accompanying your meal with a fine glass of red wine. Enjoy!

Best Italian - San Telmo

Next up in our guide to the best restaurants in Cannes we have San Telmo with the best pizza in town. Our favorite is the Pizza Margherita with fresh Mozzarella. This restaurant offers more than just pizzas. There is a large variety of pasta, meat and fish dishes. Make sure to check the seasonal specials. The truffle pasta is delicious. The restaurant is located in the centre of Cannes in the pedestrian zone.

Best Bistro – La Cave

The best restaurants Cannes has to offer thankfully includes a true French cuisine experience. If it’s a good French bistro you seek, one that offers the specialties of the Provence, then the La Cave is for you. We like to go for the snails in garlic sauce as a starter, the Entrecote de Boeuf as a main course and then a Creme Brulee. You will not be disappointed. The selection of wines is impressive. The restaurant is located centrally. Best to reserve upfront.

Best Sushi Cannes - Sushi Shop

We like the Sushi Shop located close to the Italian restaurant San Telmo. There is a great variety of sushi, spring rolls, California rolls, maki and sashimi. What’s more, this restaurant has special collections. Michelin-starred chefs such as Joel Robuchon and Thierry Marx created signature sushi meals for the Sushi Shop. Worthwhile a try.

Best Romantic - Le Repere

Restaurants in and around Cannes, France offer you the perfect place to treat your partner and yourself to a romantic dinner. So why not give the Le Repere in Port de la Rague a try. Overlooking the Mediterranean, there is even a table for two that is located directly on the water. Our favorite meal are the spare ribs. Maybe not the most romantic meal, but they taste amazing. The selection of fresh fish is also delicious.

Best Beach Restaurant – Vegaluna

There are many restaurants on the beaches of Cannes and this one is so good it just had to make our Cannes guide to cuisine. Some are expensive and others disappointing. We recommend the Vegaluna beach restaurant. The atmosphere is friendly and the food is decent. Eating on the beach is what your holiday is about. You can even relax on their sun loungers after lunch. Pleasure you can’t measure.

Best Gourmet – Toque d’Or

Avoid the overpriced gourmet restaurants on the Croisette and pay Magalie and Steve a visit at the Toque d’Or. Magalie and Steve are chefs of the highest caliber having worked with Alain Ducasse, Laurent Tarridec and Joel Robuchon. The restaurant is unpretentious and delivers exceptional food. Make sure to reserve as their 12 tables get booked up quickly.

Best Bakery and Cheese Shop

We simply couldn’t provide a guide to the best restaurant in Cannes without paying a tribute to this incredible place, we simply love the bakery Jean Luc Pele. The bread and patisserie are quite something. There are several Jean Luc Pellet bakeries in Cannes, so please check for the one closest to you. France is known for its variety of cheeses. There is no way getting around visiting the Ceneri Fromagerie. This is heaven for cheese lovers. Why not round off your bread and cheese with a fine bottle of wine. Nicolas in Cannes has a great choice and friendly staff to help you choose the right bottle. Cheers.
