This is the only tour where we have a minimum of 5 riders and we do not allow rentals to go unaccompanied. We also welcome riders on their own machines for this one.

| This is quite a piece of road - the warm up for the trip. The roads are quiet, very twisty and we ride down with the mountains on our left. A brilliant way to start off the trip. If you want to bottle out this is the day to do it. | A nip along the south side of the Pyrenees. We avoid the long straight roman roads that go directly between Pau and Biarritz and cross over the mountains into Spain. We spend the afternoon on the beach for some ceremonial photos. | A long day's ride. We go over the mountains from Biarritz and along the south side of the Pyrenees to Andorra. The route will be slightly more direct than the map shown ( a limitation of the route planning software) and all the more interesting for it! |
We come out of the mountains and head towards Narbonne on the N117. A ceremonial toe dip takes place in the Med! |

| Avoiding the congested roads of the south east - we cross over to Italy. We will spend the night near Genova before hacking on to Venice. | A blast across Northern Italy gets us to Venice, again we will be just outside of the city. Depending on the feelings of the Group - we may swap half a rest day in Romania for a trip round the city. |
Passing through the Slovenian border takes us into a little known gem. Slovenia is one of the more affluent of the former Yugoslavian countries. It has not suffered quite the same as the rest of the region. The town of Murska Sobata is picturesque and poised right on the border with Hungary. This is the first of two countries where we cannot speak the language! |
We half cross Hungary today, Hungary is generally flat. Most of the roads are tolerable but a little too straight. The language is unfathomable - but the people are great! |
day 9 Budapest Cluj Napoca 8 Hours 400 Km |
day 10 Cluj Napoca Brasov 400 KM |
An optional days ride in the mountains all day |
day 12 Brasov Galati 6 Hours 300 Km |

Today we cross into Romania and leave the EEC. . The crossing to the border can be a little difficult. But we speak Romanian and know the drill! Cluj Napoca is a great town. Romanian roads are patchy - but this one is reasonable by local standards. |
From Cluj we head to Brasov - by way of Sibiu. We pass one of Romania's many cultural borders as we move from an area populated by ethnic Hungarians to one populated by ethnic Saxons. Sibiu is a great place for lunch. Brasov boasts a ski resort in the vicinity (Poiana Brasov) where one of Romania's finest restaurants can be found. Our recommendation is to avoid the Bear Steak and either eat the venison or wild boar. |
If you don't want to hang out in Brasov, and your backside is still in need of more punishment - then we will take a leisurely ride around the Carpathians for a day. Because of the intricacy of roads in the region - those wanting to go seriously off-piste will have to ride with Bill. |
We descend from the Carpathians towards the Danube delta. Galati is an old roman town and 'reeks' of history. |
day 13 Galati Mamaia 5 Hours 300 Km |
x a day on the beach in Mamaia. |
day 15/16 Mamaia A 12 hours 800 Km (Romania) |

We head off through the Danube delta on quiet country roads. A chance to stop off and check out the Storks and Pelicans near Babadag. |
Mamaia is the Romanian Black Sea hot spot. The third of our ceremonial toe dips occurs here. First night is the wild night - the second night is a little quieter - 800 KM across Romania in 2 days - it's a ride! |
From the beach through the mountains to the start of the Hungarian plains in two days. Bucharest boasts load of good restaurants, Nightclubs and a fully functional Australian beach pub! |
The last time I took this road the first bit was still under construction, but they are due to have it finished by the time we go there. Long flat roads - with a climb up to Vienna towards the end. |
day 18 Vienna Innsbruck 7 hours 450 Km |
day 19 Innsbruck Bern 7 hours 400 Km |
day 20 Bern Valence 8 hours 400 Km |
day 21/22 Valence Toulouse Montrejeau 530 Km |

Though the Austrian Alps (lovely) with a nip through Germany to help make the country total to 10 - not really a cheat - but definitely the most direct route. |
We continue through the Alps and arrive near Switzerland's Bern after a day's ride through some seriously twisty terrain. |
It's high, it's twisty. It's fun - 2 days to go! |
Again we will take a straighter route through the Parc National Languedoc. We then ride Toulouse Montrejeau. |
